I first took up Yoga in my teens after suffering back problems. I tried many alternative/complementary therapies and anything else I thought might help but Yoga is the only thing that has stayed with me throughout. I genuinely believe it is the reason that I have stayed active and healthy. Not only has it helped me physically but it has also helped me to accept myself as I am and appreciate the positives that my back issues have given me: I would probably not have started practising Yoga so young otherwise, I have met some incredible people as a result and I think it has allowed me to empathise with others that suffer with a chronic condition.
After leaving university with a Masters degree I worked as a secondary school teacher and later as a grief counsellor before finally training to be a yoga teacher with Yogacampus in London (accredited by the Yoga Alliance and the Independent Yoga Network) where I was awarded a distinction. I feel very privileged to be able to share the benefits of yoga with others.
My particular areas of interest:
I have undertaken the following specialist training courses:
I offer small group classes and individual sessions both of which allow me to respond to the needs of my students. I plan my classes with a theme in mind and enjoy the challenge of finding ways for all students to access the benefits of the poses. I take Yoga seriously but I am a naturally cheerful person so I hope my classes are joyful.
